Found this in the back room of my old job. It was titled “YO MS Raps!” MS-DOS 5.0 was the first version available in a retail package. Looks like MS spent a few $$$ to produce the effects in this video to promote it.

I was choppin it up with the crew about Lil’ Wayne last night and this a capella “freestyle” got mentioned. Say what you want about duke, but he has consistently stayed hungry throughout the years. Kinda dope to see an emcee go out of his way to spit a few bars in an interview, seems like nowadays these rappers try to avoid that. Excuse the video quality, but it’s the best one I could find floating around the internets.
If anyone has the extended version of this, get at meeee.
Things that make me laugh in this video:

- dude boppin his head in the background @ 1:26 - 1:30
- that the beat cuts off when Cam is spittin… “he’ll get butt raped, duct-taped…”
But aside from that, it makes me miss old dipset, back when dipset actually existed…Now that I think of it, be on the lookout for some classic dipset mixtape posts in the next few days.
No matter how many times I watch / hear this, I’m always impressed.
Circa 1997. Someone get me a Sprite, right now. While we’re at it, let’s get Sprite to start a Nas & AZ reunion campaign…tell me that wouldn’t boost their sales.
Who else remembers this from a few years back? I love the humor in this, mad funny but still doesn’t take away from getting the point across.
